So I picked up the new Linkin Park CD last night (on sale at Hot Topic for $9.99 through Monday) and I'm surprised by it. Not that I wasn't expecting to enjoy the CD as I've enjoyed the previous two they released, but it was a definite departure for the band.
The first departure is the fact that this album, unlike their first two, got a Parental Advisory label. The CD is at times angry and political on tracks like "Bleed It Out" and at other quite and reflective. The band claims that they wanted to have more fun recording this album and I would say that they succeeded as their is a much more relaxed feel to all of the tracks. A great new album and a huge step forward for one of the biggest names in mainstream music.
