I saw this article while poking around MSNBC.com and really couldn't agree with it more. Not to cheapen what happened at Blacksburg, but I agree that we should honor our fallen soldiers with flags flying at half-mast at the base and state that they hail from. I saw a political cartoon on MSNBC.com that summed it up quite well, with people sleeping through the accounts of dead soldiers overseas, but getting angered at the deaths of the students and faculty at Virginia Tech.
I'm not saying our priorities are misplaced, but perhaps they're concentrated too much in one place.
