The Life and Times of a Bartender

So, while scrolling through everybody's blogs and livejournals and the sort, I realized that I hadn't updated mine in over a month. BAD GEORGE! Sadly, there's not really much to tell. I've been making my way through classes, writing papers, reading books, burning the candle at 3 ends (which you wouldn't think was possible, given the nature of candles, but I manage it), and working plenty of hours behind the bar slinging drinks to pay the bills.
Speaking of work, just when I thought the drama behind the bar had finally died down, we get caught again. So, Kristin, the only female bartender we had, was fired. While it's not unusual to fire somebody at a restaurant, and it's not even that she didn't really deserve it (she overserved somebody while our Area Manager was there), the fact that we were already kinda shorthanded means that while we're training two more bartenders (it was three, but one quit because of personal reasons), the hours are long. Hooray for stability.
In school news, I've realized that I'm more and more ready to be done with classes as the weeks go by. What's sad is that when I finally got into my advanced fiction workshop, I thought there would be really good writers, since I had to really fight to get into the class. No such luck. I'm completely disappointed by the quality of writing that's been presented so far. I'll never claim to be some amazing writer, but the things I'm reading have bad grammar, spelling errors, and a complete lack of understanding on how to use a comma. It's quite depressing really.
So, life and times of one George Perry, bartender at large, updated. It's boring, I know, but that's the life one leads when work and school are your life...now if I can only get myself down to Richmond more often to see my April.
