Movie Time

Alright, I've caught a couple of movies over the last week. I know, been a while since I've done a movie review. Here goes.

Aeon Flux: Didn't bone up on the animated series before I went to this. Didn't matter. There's a quick explanation at the very beginning of the story to make sure that everybody, even those that are watching this for no other reason than Charlize Theron is in it, are aware of what's going on in the world of the movie. The action does an excellent job of moving the story along, but this movie isn't gratuitous violence either. Charlize Theron does a great job of translating an old MTV animated series into a very entertaining, and visually stunning, movie. Worth your money.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe: If you've read the books, you're going to love this movie. I did make it a point to re-read the book before I went to the movie, mostly because I hadn't read the book since I was about 10, and 15 years is a long time to remember every nuance of a story. For people that have seen other movies based on books and ripped them for straying from the book, you'll have nothing to complain about this time around. With roughtly two exceptions, and these are allowable exceptions in my opinion, the movie follows the book almost page for page. The CGI in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is nothing short of spectacular, and while all four of the young actors are unknown, they do a great job of making you believe that they are siblings, and of acting in a world that largely didn't exist when they were on set. As the credits rolled I really could only hope that they do make the other movies in this series. Go see this movie...now.
