Let's All Go To The Movies

Alright, time for a couple of movie reviews that are a little over-due, but not by too much.

Fantastic Four:
Ok, I've never really read any of the comics, but I did know the basic story. The movie, at least in my opinion, stayed true to the basic story while making it a bit more believeable. The dynamic amongst the characters was well played, and Michael Chiklis does an excellent job of making you feel bad for Ben Grimm, and Chris Evans is charming and funny as Johnny Storm. The special effects are amazing of course, and Stan Lee has his standard cameo. If you're not a huge fan of the comic book this might not be the movie for you, but I think that everybody can enjoy this for the pure visual aspects if nothing else.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory:
Like most people I have read the book and seen the original movie, and I believe that Johnny Depp was an excellent choice to play Willy Wonka. While making Wonka a bit creepier (thanks in no small part to being directed by one Tim Burton), Depp captures Wonka's enthusiasm and love for what he does, being comical and infectious. The supporting cast does an excellent job of helping Depp to make the world of Willy Wonka come to life, and this is easily a movie that fans of the original, or kids that have never heard of it can enjoy.

The Wedding Crashers:
For everybody that loved Old School, we have The Wedding Crashers. Vince Vaughn is his usual sleezy, yet loveable self, playing the same character that he seems to play in most movies, but that we still love to see. Owen Wilson isn't bad as the soft hearted character, going through his "life-changing moments" thanks to Rachel McAdams. The punch-lines are great, the humor tasteless, and all in all it's a great way to spend about 2 hours.

Alright, there you go, now you know what to see with your last few remaining weeks of summer. I've yet to see The Island, but it's on my list and I'll try to throw a review of it up here when I do. Hope you're all enjoying your summer and the movies that you're seeing.
